DNS Lookup

A DNS lookup should take one click, not one click plus four “SKIP AD” hunts. The Gizmo 421 DNS Lookup tool queries live resolvers over DNS-over-HTTPS — straight from your browser — and shows every record for any domain: A, AAAA, MX, TXT, NS, CNAME, SOA, SRV, and CAA.

resolver:

Results come live from Google Public DNS or Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1 over DNS-over-HTTPS, the encrypted JSON API that browsers can query directly. The record type selector covers the everyday ones — A and AAAA for where a domain points, MX for mail routing, TXT for SPF and verification strings, NS for delegation, CNAME for aliases, SOA for zone authority, SRV for service records, and CAA for certificate policy.

Why DNS-over-HTTPS?

Traditional lookup tools run the query on their own servers, see your query, and can log or resell it. DoH moves the query into your browser, encrypted end to end — the resolver sees the request, but no middleman does, and we never touch it. It is the same protocol your browser already uses for secure DNS.

Common questions

Why do I see different answers than my computer? Public resolvers can serve you a different edge server or cached copy than your ISP’s resolver — TTLs shown here tell you how long each answer is considered fresh. Why does my domain show NXDOMAIN? The domain genuinely does not exist in public DNS — check the spelling, or the name may only resolve inside a private network. Is any of this logged? Not by us. Lookups go directly from your browser to the resolver you pick; this site has no backend server involved.
